Macduff Ship Design has recently moved to fully renewable gas and electricity provider which supplements the solar panel array installed on the roof of the office.
In 2015 we made a substantial investment into a 9.8 kWp solar PV system which covers one half of the office roof. As a direct result, we have avoided 37 tonnes of CO2 and produced 54Mwh of energy. The panels generate more than enough energy to power the office and the surplus energy produced is fed back into the national grid as green energy.
In 2019 we also invested in an electric vehicle which is predominantly charged directedly off the solar panels. Our transportation is carefully planned to use the EV where possible.
These are just some of the ways we are striving to lower our carbon footprint and work towards a greener future.
