The ‘Scapa Pathfinder’ was back in Buckie this week for her 1 year warranty inspection. Based in Orkney and owned by the council the vessel was brought down for an inspection to ensure everything is as it should be following a year of service.
Delivered to her owner in July 2019, the 22.20-metre pilot vessel was designed by Macduff and built by Armon Shipyard in Spain. The all aluminium hull design was evaluated by resistance specialists Wolfson Unit to gauge the propulsion demands. She was required to match the capabilities of the existing council vessels whilst additionally carrying more fuel and complying to full IMO Tier III emission regulations. Following the completion on the vessel in August 2019 sea trials were conducted where she comfortable met requirements, achieving 25 knots at 100 per cent MCR thanks to her twin MTU 10V 2000 M72 marine engines developing 900 kW.
